Description

The onion is always cooked to perfection, with a nice crunchy outer layer and a soft and flavorful center. The accompanying sauce is also great, adding a little extra flavor to the dish.


Ingredients

Wet Mix

  • 1 cup Milk
  • 2 Eggs

Dry Mix


Instructions

  1. Whisk egg and milk together in a wide deep bowl (to fully submerge the onion).
  2. Mix the flour and all the spices together in a separate deep wide bowl.
  3. Peel the onion and place the flat side down on a cutting board (root side up).
  4. Make 8 slices downwards then turn over and gently spread out the petals.
  5. Place the onion in the flour mixture, spread the petals, and coat evenly.
  6. Then submerge the onion into the egg mixture and then back into the flour mixture.
  7. Heat oil in a deep pan. Cook the onion root side up for about 8-9

    1. Hi Norma, thanks for checking re temp fore AF. This was done in oil in a deep pan, so I will have to ask my friend if she tried it in the AF and once I hear back from her I will let you know.

    2. Hi Norma, As promised, see below the update I received from my friend.

      I have not tried this in the air fryer because I don’t think that you will you’ll a golden crispy coating as you would by frying in oil.

      If you do try it in the air fryer then by all means please share the outcome with us as we would love to know as well!
