Have you ever heard of a Pizza Cake?
Pizza cake
Pizza cake is a Canadian multiple-layer pizza baked in a pot or cake pan. First invented by Boston Pizza, recipes were posted online as early as April 2014, though they did not become viral until the Pillsbury Company posted an example in September 2014.
This has become a tradition in our daughter’s household to make this Pizza Cake for her son every year for his birthday. They all love it.

Once upon a time, someone looked at pizza and thought, What if we made this even cooler? Enter the pizza cake, a wild mashup of two things we all love: pizza and cake. It’s not just food; it’s an edible masterpiece.
Pizza’s been stealing hearts for centuries (thanks, Italy!), but this layered twist takes things to a whole new level. Imagine the cheesy goodness of your favorite slice stacked high like a birthday cake. It’s bold, it’s messy, and it’s absolutely delicious.
Why should you try it? Well, besides being a total showstopper, it’s super fun to make. It’s the kind of meal that makes everyone at the table smile—even before they’ve had a bite. Plus, you get all the classic pizza vibes but with extra flair. Who wouldn’t want that?
Let’s dive into the layers and make some pizza history together!

Description
Why settle for a slice when you can have a whole pizza cake?
This pizza cake is all about going big, cheese, sausage, and layers of flavor that’ll leave you wondering why you haven’t made this sooner.
Ingredients
- 4 small garlic naan breads (about 6-8″)
- 1 small can of crushed tomatoes
- 1 summer sausage
- Pizza mozzarella
- Green onions
- 1 roll of store-bought flaky pastry, thawed
Instructions
- Heat your oven to 380°F.
- While it’s heating, grab a baking sheet and lay down your first naan bread like it’s the base of a cake.
- Spread a couple of spoonfuls of crushed tomatoes across the bread.
- Add some slices of summer sausage and a layer of mozzarella.
- Sprinkle a handful of chopped green onions on top.
- Keep going, stack another naan, repeat the toppings, and don’t stop until you’ve got a four-layer pizza cake that’s ready to shine.
- Take your flaky pastry and slice it in half lengthwise.
- Wrap each half around the sides of your pizza tower, tucking it underneath to hold everything together.
- Slide it into the oven and bake until the pastry is golden, the cheese is gooey, and your kitchen smells like pizza heaven.
To Serve
Cut it into slices just like you would a cake and serve it up! Add a side of veggies to balance things out, or don’t. No judgment here. Trust me, one bite, and you won’t care about anything except your next slice.
Why You’ll Love It
It’s messy. It’s cheesy. Not only that, but it’s ridiculously good. Whether you’re feeding a crowd or just treating yourself to a pizza moment, this is the kind of comfort food that makes life better.
