Milktart

This will be the new favorite in your house

Base
2 cups self-raising flour
1/2 cups sugar
135ml butter
1 egg
Custard
1 liter milk
2 eggs
1 cup sugar
5Tbspn cornflour
2 tsp vanilla essence
Cinnamon to sprinkle

Method:
Preheat oven to 180’C
Mix flour and butter to resemble breadcrumbs
Beat 1 egg, 1/2 cup sugar, and 1 tsp vanilla essence until light and fluffy, mix with flour to form a soft dough.
Grease a baking pan and press dough to form the base.
Prick and bake for 15-20 mins

Custard
Boil milk
Beat together 2 eggs, 1 cup sugar, and 1 tsp vanilla essence until fluffy, and add cornflour and beat well
Add to milk and stir continuously until the custard is thick.
Pour over base, allow to cool, and sprinkle liberally with cinnamon

    This looks delicious! My husband is part south african and lived there for a couple of years when he was very young, but I know very little about the cuisine. I look forward to trying This recipe!
