Raisin and Aniseed bread is a type of bread made with raisins and flavored with cinnamon.

It is “usually a white flour or egg dough bread”. Aside from white flour, raisin bread is also made with other flour, such as all-purpose flour, oat flour, or whole wheat flour. Some recipes include honey, brown sugar, eggs, or butter.

Ingredients:

  • 500g Self-raising Flour
  • 500 ml (2 cups) Cake Flour
  • 20 ml baking powder
  • 20 ml whole aniseed
  • 250 ml sugar
  • 450 ml hot water
  • 450 ml milk
  • 250 ml Raisins
  • 60 ml of oil
  • 4 eggs

Method:

  1. Dissolve sugar in boiling water and set aside.
  2. Add raisins to it.
  3. Sieve flour and baking powder.
  4. Add whole aniseed.
  5. Beat eggs well and add to water and milk.
  6. Mix well to dry ingredients with a spoon.
  7. Add the oil to the mixture and stir well.
  8. Smear 2 baking loaf tins with butter and dust with flour.
  9. Bake in a preheated oven of 180°C for 35 to 40 minutes or until the cake skewer tester comes out dry.

Glaze with sugar water once done baking.
Sugar Glaze

  1. Dissolve 100 ml sugar in 50 ml boiling water. Use a brush to glaze over loaves.
  2. Enjoy it with butter and grated cheese.
