Easy Silky Custard Tartlets with Fresh Berries That Impress Every Time.
Ingredients
- 20 medium tart shells (store-bought or homemade)
- 250 ml 1% milk
- 500 ml of 33% MG Whipping cream
- 375 ml sugar
- 8 large egg yolks
- 5 ml vanilla extract
- 5 ml vanilla bean paste (or use 10 ml vanilla extract if you donβt have paste)
- 60 ml cornstarch
- 15 drops yellow food color (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C) and bake tart shells according to the package or your recipe.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, heat the milk and cream for about 3 minutes, until very hot but not boiling.
- In a large bowl, whisk together egg yolks, sugar, cornstarch, and vanilla until smooth.
- Keep the egg whites and make this delicious Berry-Loaded Pavlova with Marshmallow Frosting
- Slowly pour the hot milk mixture into the egg mixture while whisking constantly.
- Return the mixture to the microwave and heat in 1-minute bursts, stirring each time, until thick (about 5β7 minutes), depending on the wattageΒ of your microwave.
- If using, add the food coloring and mix through.
- Let the custard cool; it will get thicker as it cools.
- Spoon or pipe it into the baked tart shells.
- Refrigerate for approximately 2 hours until set.
- Top with blueberries, raspberries, mint leaves, and a light dusting of powdered sugar or any fruit you like.
