Stuffed Onion with Prawn Tolma

Stuffed Onion with Prawn Tolma

A deliciously stuffed onion with shrimp for an unforgettable and tasty meal, that what you will have when you make this dish.

Ingredients:

Yellow or pink onions medium size – 6
Small prawns- 250 gms deveined and rinsed in water thoroughly
Black pepper- 1 tsp
Red chili powder- ½ tsp
Coriander powder- ½ tsp
Turmeric powder- ½ tsp
Fresh Tomato- 1 tbsp
Salt to taste
Butter – 1 tbsp
Grated cheese Mozzarella or cheddar cheese- optional
Olive oil 1 tbsp
Coriander leaves.

 

Stuffed Onion with Prawn Tolma

Method:

Hollow the onions by scooping out the flesh using a small-mouthed peeler.
Then lightly slit the crown threads so that it sits straight and is not tilted.
Coat it with a little salt and olive oil(use brush) Keep aside.
Finely chop the scooped out onions.
Mince or finely chop the prawns.
Save an equal number of prawns with the tail for garnishing.
Heat pan and add 1 tsp olive oil and 1 tsp butter.
Stir fry the whole prawns with salt and pepper. Keep aside.
In the same pan, lightly fry the scooped onions and add all listed spices.
Add tomato and fry the masalas nicely.
Add minced prawns.
Cook it till it changes color.
Add a dash of water so that it is cooked nicely.

Now take the hollowed onions.
Put little butter inside. (optional).
Spoon the minced prawn filling in it to the top.
Fill in all the onions.
If using cheese then spread cheese on top.
Preheat the oven or the air fryer at 200 degrees for 10mins.
Grease the baking tray base with oil and arrange the onions over it.
Now bake it for 20 mins in oven/ for 10 mins in the Air fryer in 180/160C
Keep checking after 10 mins (oven).
It should not get too browned.
Plate it and garnish it with coriander leaves.
Serve hot preferably with mustard sauce or any cheese dip.
