Wordless Wednesday – Allow your photo(s) to tell the story
I think this post warrants some words.
My husband is crazy about airplanes! He used to have a private pilot’s license, did a lot of flying back in the day, and even owned a small 4-seater plane. When going on vacations, he flew us to our destination. It was super convenient, and we loved it.
These days, he rarely misses an air show. But this year, he had to skip the Abbotsford Airshow because of a scheduling conflict. We had to attend our youngest Granddaughter’s birthday celebration and not to be missed. Luckily, he still got to see some of the action from home. The pictures below are ones he took as the planes flew close enough for him to capture them!

Come, participate, and join us weekly at our very own #WordlessWednesday #Photography. Let your photos do the talking. (Words are also welcome.) The linkup will always start on Wednesday at 2:15 a.m. and end on Saturday at 8:00 a.m.

When we lived in Dorset, there was/is a swannery in Abbotsbury. For one moment, I thought you had moved. 🤣 then I realised you were writing about Abbotsford, not Abbotsbury, and the fliers were plane’s, not winged birds. Great photos, and I hope you enjoyed your grandchild’s birthday. Thank you for leaving it here for all to see.
Hi Ellen, Good to hear from you again. No, we are still in BC, Canada! We moved from Vancouver (some 100+ miles) to Abbotsford but still BC. Thank you, we did have a great birthday party and all enjoyed it tremendously on the farm. Hope all well on your end, my friend
I love a great airshow. They are such fun to watch. Such talent.
Thank you for joining the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous day and weekend. Hugs. ♥
Thanks so much for dropping in here. Yes we are very fortunately to have the airfield not far from home and they do fly over the house with the show
Wonderful photos, and impressive that you can capture these from your house. Warthog seems like a strange name for a plane!
Hi Peter, Some history of the name:
The Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II is a single-seat, twin-turbofan, straight-wing, subsonic attack aircraft developed by Fairchild Republic for the United States Air Force. In service since 1977, it is named after the Republic P-47 Thunderbolt, but is commonly referred to as the “Warthog” or simply “Hog”.

Cool photos, Esme! Your husband’s passion for airplanes really shows. Glad he could still enjoy the Abbotsford Airshow from home, despite missing it in person. The Snowbirds and A-10 Warthog shots are fantastic! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you Veronica. Yes he had a ball. Every now and then he would grab his camera, run outside when we heard one coming our way.
Great pics!! Well done!
Thank you, Lydia, Hubby had a blast and I could see them as well from home.
These are some great photos!!
HI Yogi. Thank you so much for your kind words. Much appreciated. Trust you linked up your own #WW pics this week at https://esmesalon.com/es-41-wordlesswednesday/
We have an airshow in Swansea the first weekend of July. We can watch it from our garden.
Great close-ups of those fast planes, Esme. I bet they made a lot of noise.
Thanks Hugh. Yes this is also a yearly event (3 days in total and 2 or so days prior and after the show that we hear them. Noise, yes, but fortunately as we love it, we do not mind. What type of show do you guys have at Swansea?
Great planes, dear Esme, but I’ve a problem to find the linky…
All the best from Austria, Traude
