Some more information on Crustless Chicken 2 Cheese Quiche
The concept of a crustless chicken and cheese quiche is a variation of the traditional quiche, a dish that originated in France. A quiche typically consists of a pastry crust filled with a savory custard mixture that includes eggs, cream or milk, cheese, and various other ingredients such as vegetables, meats, or seafood.
Here’s a general overview of the components:
Quiche Origin:
The term “quiche” itself comes from the German word “kuchen,” meaning cake. Quiche Lorraine, the most well-known version, originated in the Lorraine region of France. It traditionally contained bacon or lardons in a custard filling.
Crustless Variation:
The crustless version of quiche is often preferred by those looking to reduce their carbohydrate intake or avoid gluten. By eliminating the crust, the dish becomes lighter and quicker to prepare.
Chicken and Cheese:
The addition of chicken and cheese to a crustless quiche introduces protein and a rich, savory flavor. Chicken can be cooked and shredded or diced before being added to the egg and cheese mixture.
Cheese Choices:
The “2 Cheese” component in your description could refer to using two different types of cheese for added flavor complexity. Common cheeses used in quiches include Swiss, cheddar, Gruyère, or Parmesan.
Preparation:
To make a crustless chicken and cheese quiche, you would typically mix beaten eggs with cream or milk, and add cooked chicken, cheese, and any desired seasonings. This mixture is then poured into a baking dish and baked until the custard is set.
Adaptations and Variations:
Home cooks often adapt quiche recipes to suit their preferences. This might involve experimenting with different cheeses, adding herbs or vegetables, or incorporating various proteins like chicken.
While the specific dish “Crustless Chicken 2 Cheese Quiche” might not have a documented historical origin, it is part of a broader culinary tradition of quiches. This type of dish has evolved and diversified over the years, reflecting changes in dietary preferences and regional adaptations. The crustless version has gained popularity in health-conscious and gluten-free communities.

I love a good crustless quiche but I have never thought of putting chicken in mine! This looks yummy.
I mostly do crustless due to GF reasons, and I add whatever I have available in the kitchen and use what I have and this is how this one came about. Hope you will try and enjoy it Joanne.
