Dumpling is a broad class of dishes that consist of pieces of dough (made from a variety of starch sources), often wrapped around a filling. The dough can be based on bread, flour, buckwheat, or potatoes, and may be filled with meat, fish, tofu, cheese, vegetables, fruits, or sweets. Dumplings may be prepared using a variety of methods, including baking, boiling, frying, simmering, or steaming, and are found in many world cuisines.
From Italian ravioli, to Polish piroshky, to Chinese pot stickers, the humble dumpling is beloved by eaters around the world.
At the kid’s request, Rochelle made a batch of these Easy Vegetable Steamed Dumplings and they loved it and devoured it in record time.
- Mix to form a soft dough
- Roll out dough into small disc shapes.
- Fill with the meat/veg mixture, seal edges with water and crimp.
- Steam for about 10 minutes.
- Sauté meat/ veg, ginger, and garlic till soft.
- Allow cooling then add in the remaining ingredients and mix well.
