Description
Homemade Cinnamon Rolls with Apricot Glaze. Soft, buttery cinnamon rolls topped with a glossy apricot glaze. Perfect for weekend baking or a cozy treat.
Ingredients
Dough:
- 500g strong white bread flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 7g sachet fast-acting yeast
- 40g unsalted butter (plus extra for greasing)
- 250ml milk
- 1 egg
- Veg oil for greasing
Filling:
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 2 tbsp sugar
Glaze:
- 1 tbsp apricot jam
- Splash of water
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the flour and salt.
- Make a well in the center and add the yeast.
- Warm the milk and butter in a pan until the butter melts and the liquid is lukewarm.
- Pour into the flour, add the egg, and stir until you’ve got a soft dough.
- Knead on a lightly oiled surface for 5 minutes until smooth and stretchy.
- Place in an oiled bowl, cover with a damp tea towel, and let rise until doubled, about 1 hour.
- Roll the dough into a rectangle (30x20cm). Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
- Roll it up tightly from the long edge, then cut into slices about 4cm thick.
- Arrange in a greased roasting pan, cut side up.
- Cover and let rise again for 30–60 minutes.
- Bake at 180°C for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
- Warm the jam with a splash of water and brush it over the rolls while hot.
- Cool slightly before serving.
