Ingredients
Orange Loaf
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup white sugar
- ½ cup of butter or margarine
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup fresh orange juice
- 1 tablespoon grated orange zest
Sauce
- ½ cup of orange juice
- ¼ cup white sugar
Instructions
Orange Loaf
- Preheat the oven to 350F (175C).
- Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- Stir flour, baking powder, nuts, and salt in a bowl.
- Beat 1 cup sugar and butter until fluffy; beat in eggs one at a time.
- Stir in 1/2 cup orange juice and orange zest.
- Pour in the flour mixture, and stir until moistened; transfer into prepared loaf pan.
- Bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 1 hour.
Sauce
- Combine 1/2 cup orange juice with 1/4 cup sugar in a small saucepan.
- Heat and stir to dissolve sugar.
- Spoon glaze over hot loaf.
- Let stand in the pan for 10 minutes before removing the loaf to cool on a rack.
