Description
Filling your plate and your heart with warmth. Enjoy these tasty bites of Steak Mince with Boiled Egg pies
Ingredients
Steak filling:
- 400g steak
- 1 onion
- 4 cloves fresh grated garlic
- 1 teaspoon Aromat (to taste)
- 1 teaspoon Robertson Steak and Chops spice (to taste)
- 1 teaspoon Robertson Traditional Braai mix (to taste)
- 2 teaspoon Maizena (corn flour)
- 30 ml water
Steak mince filling:
- 500 g Steak mince
- 1 onion chopped
- 10 cloves
- 10 allspice
- salt and black pepper (to taste)
- 1/2 cup soaked sago (soak in water)
Pastry Shells
- 40 butter pastry shells
Instructions
Steak filling:
- Braise the onion in some oil and then add the cubed steak.
- Add garlic and the above spices and cook until soft and succulent.
- Lastly, make a paste with Maizena/corn flour and water, and remove from the stovetop when the sauce thickens.
- Put filling in the center of each pastry shell and place another shell on top and cut 2 slits in the center and seal the edges well. B
- Bake for 28 minutes @ 180C/350F
Steak mince filling
- Braised onion in oil.
- Add the drained and clean mince.
- Add the soaked and strained sago.
- Season as needed and cook until it thickens.
- You can add a little water to loosen the filling.
- Boil 2 eggs and mash with a fork.
- Place some egg on the mince filling and close with the top pie shell.
- Make two slits on top.
- Bake on 180°C/350F Thermofan for 28 minutes, and there is no need to egg-wash the pies.
