Description

Try this Quick, Easy, Tasty Microwave Milk Tart Filling – a dessert perfect for those late-night cravings or last-minute guests. Whip up some Milk Tart today.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 40 ml cake flour (I use Easy Blending Flour, but regular will do)
  • 40 ml Birds Custard Powder
  • 500 ml milk
  • 2 eggs (room temperature)
  • 4050 ml White Sugar (or more if you prefer it sweeter)
  • 6 ml vanilla essence

Instructions

  1. Mix the flour and custard powder with ± 62.5 ml of the milk.
  2. Place the rest of the milk in a microwave bowl and bring it to a boil in the microwave.
  3. Slowly add the boiled milk to the flour/custard mixture, vigorously stirring (a regular hand whisk does the job), and mix thoroughly to prevent lumps.
  4. Beat the eggs, sugar, and vanilla and add to the above mixture, mix through.
  5. Continue to microwave until thickened at 1-minute increments (this will depend on your microwave), 2-3 minutes.
  6. Let it rest and cool.
  7. You can spoon the filling into one regular tart-size base before it is set
  8. I prefer to leave it until cold and fully set and then use a star nozzle and piping bag and pipe it in small, prebaked tart casings for single servings.
  9. Dust with cinnamon before serving.

    1. I will not be able to function without my Microwave as we use it a lot, the same as the AF. That’s the only two big ‘cooking; appliances I have and will not be without them if possible.
