Extra Light Potato Surprise Steak Rolls

Description

A wonderfully soft, moist potato roll, with a yeasty flavor made with mashed potatoes and added to it lovely juicy steak as a surprise when you bite into it.


Ingredients

Units Scale

Dough for Rolls

  • 4 1/2 cups cake flour
  • 2 X-large eggs
  • 10 g 1pkt instant yeast
  • 5 ml fine salt
  • 125 ml of oil
  • 250g (2) medium potatoes mashed
  • 1 tbs. sugar
  • 500 ml lukewarm water (use water of mashed potato too)

Steak filling

  • 400g steak
  • 1 onion
  • Aromat to taste
  • 1 tsp garlic and ginger masala
  • 1 tsp Suhana Kashmiri mild chili powder
  • 1 tsp jeera
  • 1 tsp coriander
  • 1 tsp gorimas leaf masala

Instructions

Dough:

  1. Sift the flour, sugar, salt & yeast.
  2. Add lukewarm water and then add the oil and beaten eggs.
  3. Mix to a soft pliable dough.
  4. Let it rise for 1 hour in a wonder cooker bag.
  5. Knockdown and make 20 balls.
  6. Greased muffin pan well with oil.
  7. Place dough in a muffin pan and allow to rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Egg wash with beaten egg and add white poppy seed, colored sesame seeds, and chia seeds.
  9. Bake at 180 C / 350F for 25 min or until golden brown

Filling

  1. Braise the onion in oil and add cubed steak.
  2. Add garlic and the above spices and cook until soft and succulent.
  3. Garnish with freshly chopped dhania.
  4. Let the filling cool off completely before filling the center of roll dough.

  1. Wow! Add a salad to these delicious-sounding rolls and you have dinner! Some of the spices I will have to look up (jeera and aromat). I have never seen them in the grocery store.

    • Laurie, Jeera, it is the Hindi name for Cumin seed
