Sigrid Chu Interview

LIFE LESSONS THAT INSPIRE MEANINGFUL LIVING: I’m a storyteller who explores life lessons to help inspire you to live a meaningful life.

What is the name of your blog and how did you decide on your blog name?

My blog is called Life Notes to File. Six months after deciding that I would start a blog, I still couldn’t come up with a name. Then one night, as if a light bulb went off in my head, I came up with this name.

The name of my blog is based on a note to file, a document that I often write in my work in research.

A note to file explains a problem, it’s a cause and the measures put in placed to correct it. This note helps prevent the same problem from recurring. It’s a reminder of the lessons you have learned.

This is what I do in my blog. I chronicle the lessons that I’ve learned in my life and from others. That’s how Life Notes to File was born.

What prompted you to start on this blogging journey?

I grew up loving stories in all forms and I loved stories so much that my mother once warned some family and friends to not tell me stories while crossing the road as I get too engrossed and emotionally invested.  She said it’s a sure way for me to get ran over! This love of stories bore my dream of becoming a storyteller.

I’ve had experiences in my life, both good and bad, that have shaped who I am now. More recently, becoming a mother and approaching mid-life made me contemplate on what it meant to live a life of meaning. I was certain that many others have the same question in their mind.

Life Notes to File brings together my love of stories and my exploration of life, and the lessons that come with it, whether from my own life or from others. This blog is my journey to realize my dream of becoming a storyteller

To date, what blogging achievement/s are you most proud of?

Since I started blogging, the achievement I’ve been most proud of is the improvements that I’ve seen in my writing. And when others read my blog, that’s the icing on the cake!

How would you describe your own blogging style?

Most of my blog posts are personal narratives. I focus on life lessons that I’ve learned.

I sometimes add in some scientific evidence based on literature (probably due to the force of habit and you’ll understand why I do this when you read later one of the interesting facts about me).

I also do listicles and round-up posts with many involving quotes.

What excites you most about blogging?

Blogging allowed me to reunite with my other love, reading. I read once that if one wants to be a great writer, they have to be an avid reader too.

I also love connecting with readers, knowing that they are learning from what I’m writing. Surely I learn from my readers too!

What platform do you use and why?

I use Wordpress.org as my blogging platform. Based on the research that I’ve done prior to starting my blog, Wordpress.org is the way to go. I haven’t experienced using other platforms so I cannot really compare.

What genre/topic/theme do you blog about? Do you ever deviate from that theme?

I blog about life lessons that inspire meaningful living. This covers lessons on life in general, work, relationships and I also blog a lot about inspiration and I try my best to not deviate from this theme.

How often do you blog per week or month?

I post once a week but I work on my blog on a daily basis.

Do you have any wisdom or tip/s regarding blogging to share with us?

Believe what other seasoned bloggers have said, blogging really does take time. So don’t commit to something that you know you can’t do for the long haul. It will result in blogger burn out.

Do you participate in linkup parties? How do you feel about it?

I participate in a number of linkup parties. I love it! I even have a Best Link Parties page on my blog. Here’s another blogging tip. Participating in linkup parties helped increased my blog’s Domain Authority.
