Should you let tres leches sit overnight and how long does it take for tres leches to absorb milk?

Yes, authentic Tres Leches Cake is traditionally served cold. It is best to make it a day ahead of time so it can sit in the refrigerator overnight and absorb all of the liquid.

Typically, Tres leches cake needs at least 2 hours in the fridge to soak up the delicious sweet milk mixture, but if you have even longer that’s better.

Does tres leches cake go in the fridge or freezer?

Store Tres Leches Cake in the refrigerator, covered, for 3-5 days. Tres Leches Cake should be tightly covered and stored in the refrigerator. It is good for up to five days – if it lasts that long!
