What’s new this week in the blogging camp?

Are those increased views real?

One of the most thrilling things that happen to bloggers is logging into Google Analytics and seeing that you are getting a lot of traffic.

As exciting as it is to see that, you may not want to celebrate.

Why? Because it may not be real traffic and by that, I mean, it could be bot traffic.

Bots often send traffic to a site to try to entice the owner to want to pay for traffic (which you should never, ever do). Other times, they are trying to find a hole in your security to hack a site.

Both suck. So, what do you do?

First off, make sure you have proper security on your site. That means a strong password for hosting, domain name, and your site login. Then, ensure you also use something like Wordfence on your blog as that will help block them from being able to log into your site.

You then need to ensure you exclude known bot traffic from showing in your analytics results. Google can filter those that they know of, but if there are new ones, it may take a little time for them to learn about those sites and block them.

If you happen to use the new G4 format, Google is blocking bots by default. However, if you are not, you need to make sure you do this yourself. Don’t worry – it is super easy.

Log into your Google Analytics account and then hit the gear at the bottom of the sidebar, which will take you to the admin screen.

Select View Settings. Scroll down to Bot Filtering and make sure that box is checked (make sure to save your changes). Now, if you know that the traffic is from real visitors — congrats!! It could be that your site was featured in Google Discover, had a pin go viral, improved ranking on Google, or a share by another site.

Search ranking will make or break your business, and here are some statistics to prove why rankings still matter.

Emarketer forecasts that more than 85% of US internet users, or 246.4 million people, will search online at least monthly in 2020. The number of daily searches on Google is over 4 billion, and the top five results get 65% of the clicks. In fact, 75% of users do not even click past the first page of the search results. Paid Ads will not save you either, with 80% of search engine users avoiding them altogether. With so much on the line for those lucrative top spots, the competition is fierce.

Content marketing is expected to be a $412 billion industry in 2021. More and more businesses are realizing its importance and even view their blogs as an essential asset. This is why you need this step-by-step guide on, ” The Top 10 SEO Tasks” you should not be ignoring.
