Please fellow #SeniSal members, we plead and ask that you read and share the posts of your fellow bloggers.  The more you give, the more you will receive.  This is part of Caring for one another!

Are you ready for a change,
and taking the first step leading you
on your path of Retirement?

Yes, I have been hinting the past month to spill the beans, and although not August 1st as yet, but this linkup will run over my first day of retirement, i.e. 1st of August, I decided to let you all in on my secret.

Yes, I only have 5 more working days (I am not counting 😇) left, after being with a company for the past 15 years!  There is a time to come and a time to go, and my time to go has come, and I will be retiring and my last day will be July 31st, 2020.

I have already been contemplating and looking into this ‘retirement’ thing for many years as we have had lots of changes at work, but due to this, that and the other, and with the pandemic, we are all in, I felt this would be the most opportune time for me to exit from my working career.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

For everything, there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.

Some steps to consider and make sure you have looked hard at what you want to do and how to achieve your goals:

  1. Are you totally committed?
  2. What is your plan of action?
  3. Have you considered the pros and cons?
  4. Do you have support, from your spouse or partner?
  5. Are you in the right frame of mind?

What do you understand and what does the word CHANGE mean to you?

Is it just not the same anymore? Then there must have been a change. The noun change can refer to anything or state that is different from what it once was.

Change is everywhere in life — and in English. The word has numerous senses, both as a noun and verb, and is a part of many common phrases, like “a change of heart.” Change might describe a drastic transformation, as in Kafka’s The Metamorphosis, or it could also represent what’s jingling in your pocket.

What is the real meaning of retirement?

Retirement, according to the dictionary, means to “withdraw from one’s position or occupation or from active working life.” You can achieve retirement when you have sources of income that do not have to be earned by working. Retirement and the term “financial independence” are often used interchangeably.

Why do people retire?

There are many good reasons for retirement. Chief among these is the freedom from onerous work, which provides the leisure to do the things that a person really wants to do, such as travel, hobbies, community service, or simply taking it easy. There are also many good reasons not to retire.

  2. Esme, congratulations on your retirement! I had planned to work two more years before retiring early, but there were lots of changes coming and I decided to bail even earlier. Don’t even miss it. Enjoy! The first link I’m going to visit is “Tea, biscuits, and sewage”–I mean, who can resist a title like that?!

  3. Blessings on your retirement. May it give you all the opportunities you hope for, and may it be a blessing to you and your family. Share on my Facebook page. I “retired” 6/30/18. But sure there will be other retirements in my future. Michele Somerville, The Beach Girl Chronicles

  4. Happy retirement! My husband is a few years away from retirement, but we’ve already been discussing it. He’s not content without something to do, so he’s come up with a little side business that he can do at his own time and pace.
