Bloggers Recognition Award #7

At the end of last year, Silvia Todesco from ITALIAN GOODNESS nominated me for this Bloggers Recognition Award and I am still so pumped to have received this award from her and wish to thank Sylvia for thinking of me and her kind words in her post, and I quote her below:

ESME SALON: Esme shares tons of recipes, but she also taught me the importance of being part of the Bloggers Community, and I will always be grateful to her for that.

If you have not as yet, please do both of us *that’s you and me” a huge favor and visit ITALIAN GOODNESS and see all those incredibly awesome Italian dishes and recipes.  She has such a spread that you will have to visit her weekly to continue to enjoy all her recipes in your own home.

Truly, this year started with a bang, and I am racing through January at breakneck speed!  January, please, please slow down!

Bloggers Recognition Award #7

How and why did I start blogging

You may wonder who am I, so I will share one or two tidbits about myself and my blog.  I grew up loving to bake and cook as I watched my Mom so lovingly prepare meal after meal for the family and all our friends.

We live in Vancouver, Canada, for the past 22+ years, but originally from a then small village called Somerset West, just outside of Cape Town, in South Africa.

Over the last number of years, I have been pouring my heart and soul into my blog, first The Recipe Hunter (Cook and Enjoy) and now I have upgraded to EsmeSalon.

As already mentioned, I love cooking and baking, but more and more I have started to venture into different areas of blogging as I love to Share, Care & Inspire.

I still have a full-time office job with extended and long office hours, I do not get as much time to cook and bake as I normally did, and as my hubby is retired, he took over where I left off in the cooking department, and when I arrive home at night, after a long and busy day at the office, I am welcomed with a lovely meal to enjoy.  As needed and over the weekend, I love to do experimenting and baking, but that also had dwindled to only the necessary items for special occasions or birthday events.  Hopefully, one day, when I have the opportunity to retire, I will have more time to do what I love and so miss to do, cooking and baking and blogging and sharing and promoting you and your blogs.

Sharing and promoting you and your blogs.

Hey, on that topic, please get in touch with me via email if you wish to share a post, do an interview or interact in any way, shape or form, as I would love to do that.

You will find the following features on the blog and I wish to invite you all to come and participate and share your stories at EsmeSalon.

  1. Senior Salon, a weekly Link Up Party starting each Monday at 2 am PST through to Friday at 8 pm PST with a roundup post at 9 pm PST.
  2. Sharing, Inspiring, Promoting Bloggers aka SIPB on Facebook
  3. Wednesday Interview Series
  4. Guest Posts
  5. We still will have all those yummy tried and tested home-made recipes.

Other than blogging, I love to embroider my gift cards.  This is a method where you prick a pattern on a 3-fold card and then embroider it with different colors to form a beautiful picture.  I have done 100’s or maybe even a 1,000 already and just enjoy it tremendously. I use this as gifts, as it is more personal than going out to buy a gift that just gets tossed in a drawer and never to be seen again.

Pin prick cards

I’d love to hear from you, my fellow bloggers and readers. Tell me what hobbies you enjoy and spend time doing.

Two pieces of advice to new bloggers

Let’s try this without words, as they say, a picture is worth more than a 1,000 words
