Dessert today was an apple crumble brought back memories of all the times I made this for my kids growing up 😊😊Enjoy!
Preheat oven 190°C (170°C fan assist)
Grease a pie dish square or round
Filling
Ingredients:
4 x large apples peeled and sliced
1/4 cup raisins
3 dessertspoon’s castor sugar
1/4 cup water
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
Pinch of ground cloves
Method:
Boil apples for 6 mins or until softened, drain water and leave in bowl to cool.
Crumble
Ingredients:
125 g butter at room temperature
2 tbsp castor sugar
2 tbsp vegetable oil
1 extra-large egg lightly beaten add 1 tsp vanilla essence to egg
2 cups cake flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
Method:
In a mixing bowl cream butter and sugar for 2 mins.
Add oil and blend in.
Sift dry ingredients.
Add beaten egg and flour alternatively to butter mixing until a soft dough is reached. Remove and slightly knead dough.
Halve the dough, take one portion dough & cover in cling wrap, place in freezer to get firm. Line your baking dish with the other half.
Fill shell with your apple and then grate the other half of dough over your apple filling. Sprinkle a bit of cinnamon on top and bake for 25 to 30 mins until done. Remove and let cool. When cool dust with icing sugar.
Serve with whipped cream or custard.
