Description

It’s a fairly simple recipe and the smell in your house while baking is delicious. Enjoy this outstanding and awesome southern recipe.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 stick butter, (1/2 cup)
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 46 Granny Smith apples ( if small use 6, if large use 4)
  • 2 pre-made pie crusts

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350F / 180C
  2. Place butter in the skillet and put in the preheating oven.
  3. After the butter has melted remove it from the oven and mix in brown sugar.
  4. Place one pie crust on top of the butter brown sugar mixture and allow the crust to go up the sides of the skillet.
  5. Place peeled and sliced apples, about half an inch thick, in a bowl with a cup of white sugar and cinnamon and mix.
  6. Mix sugar and cinnamon together before mixing with apples.
  7. Place the second crust on top of the apples and push the crust down the sides to meet with the bottom crust.
  8. Make slits in the top crust.
  9. Bake for 45 minutes and top to a golden brown.
  10. Sometimes I leave an extra five minutes to brown it.
  11. We serve hot with vanilla ice cream.
